Preserve Your Vehicle’s Paint Finish

05 Nov

One of the best ways to keep your car in mint condition is to take care of the paint finish. Damage to your vehicle’s paint will cause dollars to drop off its resell value quickly. If something has happened to your car’s paint finish we can easily repair it for you with our state of the art color matching technology and equipment.

Check out some of the great ways to take care of your vehicle’s paint below..

1. Avoid getting gasoline, oil, antifreeze, transmission fluid or windshield solvent on finish. If any of these harsh chemicals do end up on your car rinse it off with water immediately. Do not just wipe off with a dry cloth.

2. Do not scrape snow off your vehicle. This can cause scratches or paint to chip off. Instead gently brush snow off with a snow brush. If your car has ice on it, turn the car on and let it run for a couple of minutes with the defroster on. As the car warms up the ice should start to melt at which point you can gently use a vehicle ice scraper.

3. Avoid parking under trees with sap. If your car does get sap on it, use a bit of rubbing alcohol on a soft cloth to break up the sap. Once the sap has softened, apply a generous amount of WD-40 to the area and then wipe clean with a different soft cloth.

4. When hand washing your car by hand make sure to use a quality auto specific soap (such as Megs Gold Class, Adams, Chemical Guys Citrus Wash etc…)

5. Always try to wash your car in the shade. Washing it in the sun can cause water spots which over time ruin the paint and end up causing more work for you the next time you wash it.

6. To add that extra touch, use a paint conditioner. Using a non abrasive paint conditioner can help protect your vehicle’s paint. Be sure to follow the instructions listed on the package to get the best results.

7. Avoid driving on unpaved or unfinished roads. Gravel or rocks that get kicked up on your car will hurt the paint and may also dent or damage the metal itself.
